Christmas break was amazing. It wasn’t perfect, but nothing is. I didn’t want it to be perfect though, I just wanted it to be great. Quite frankly we did it all. We visited with both families, opened presents and played with our new toys. We stuffed our faces with WAY too much sugar, went to a movie and did plenty of shopping. We even watched obnoxiously emotional movies that I inevitably bawled through. It was just…. Amazing :)
Have you ever had one of those years that you don’t get everything you want for Christmas? Well.. that was NOT one of those years. :) We got spoi-led! New computer(web book), new tires, tea pot, rocking chair, new boots, cloths, jewelry, CANDY, sack of potatoes(one of my gifts to Justin), toy helicopters, gift cards, a nights stay at a hotel sometime by Bear lake :) Like I said… spoiled!
All the things I listed were the physical gifts of this years Christmas. But I think my favorite part of Christmas this year was…. And don’t call me corny… the way everyone treated everyone. We have a new addition to the family, and Its not the typical kind of situation you would assume. Yes we have a few new babies in the family this year, but that’s not the addition I am talking about. We have a new “brother” this year at the Cooks house. He’s pretty awesome. He fits in perfect in the cook family and we love having him there. It would seem weird if he wasn’t there when we come home to visit. In just a short time he has become part of the family and we really appreciate what he brings to the table :) Anthony you da bomb lol
I also wanted to talk about my Mom and how amazing she is. . and sneaky lol. As a newly wed couple, Justin and I haven’t quite mastered the art of gift giving in our little family. We didn’t know how much to spend on each other, or what to get. Which resulted in me kinda sucking when it came to being “on top” of gift getting this year. He spoiled me, but I kinda failed. As we were heading to Kaysville on Christmas eve, I was on the verge of tears texting my mom about how badly I failed, and she immediately offered to fix everything. I don’t know what I’d do without her. She went to the store for me and got exactly what I was going to get if I could have managed to get away for a couple minutes. She even had something extra for me to give him. She is just so prepared. I don’t know how she does it, and I highly doubt that I will ever learn. Something else that she secretly did this Christmas weekend was clean our windows on our car. We have been married nearly 6 months now, but our car still had polka dots and “just married” written on the windows. The paint used at our wedding was pretty sturdy car window paint, cuz it was still easily legible even after six months. Anyway, we got in the car today and realized the windows were perfectly clean. We tried to figure out how it happened. Was it Ben(brother in law) when he borrowed the car yesterday when his car was boxed in? Was it my dad when we were still asleep this morning? Well, I found out from my sister that it was mom. She didn’t tell us, she just did it… and trust me, it could not have been very easy. We tried a few times, but it would scrape the glass or just make your hand cramp before you really made any progress. My mom is so cute :) and we don’t even see any scrapes so she is kinda magical lol
Anyway, its time for me to clean up our apt and find places for everything. Our car is a mess and I am actually excited to clean it out.. that’s a first. It might be because it’s messy with new stuff but I dunno ;)
ps- i had this written up the day after Christmas.. and am now just posting it. i know i'm a slacker
